HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes 090884 Adjourned Regular Meeting Saturday, September 8 , 1984 9: 00 a.m. - Room 304 Atascadero Administration Building Meeting was called to order at 9:00 a.m. by Mayor Nelson. Present: Councilwoman Norris and Mackey, Councilman Molina and Handshy, and Mayor Nelson. Absent: None Councilwoman Mackey spoke regarding her concerns about the removal of trees in Atascadero. Planning Director, Henry Engen, will look into the ordinance regarding tree removal and possibly putting out a handout regarding the care of oak trees. Councilwoman Mackey also discussed the need for street lights at Santa Rosa and the need for a stop sign at Carmelita and San Gabriel. 1. City Clerk Position MOTION: By Councilwoman Norris, seconded by Councilwoman Mackey to appoint Georgia Ramirez, City Clerk for the remainder of the two year term. Passed by 3:2 vote, with Councilman Molina and Handshy voting no. This is a tentative decision and will be discussed at the council meeting on Monday, September 10. MOTION: By Councilman Handshy, seconded by Councilman Molina to appoint Ralph Dowell, as City Treasurer for the remainder of the two year term. Passed unanimously. 2. Ordinance Number Four City Attorney, Allen Grimes, spoke regarding the need for the City Managers contract and ordinance to be consistent. Mr. Grimes will be redrafting these and will submit drafts to the City Council for their approval. 3. Planning Department Henry Engen, Planning Director, spoke regarding the building and planning department. He said that there are 117 permits being processed at the present time, and a back log of 150 business licenses. Some areas that he will be working on are: personnel evaluations, staff meetings, a better filing system, adjustment of counter hours, looking into plan check fees and the scheduling of appointments by contractors. Councilman Handshy brought up the possibility of changing the time or night of the council meetings. Will be dicussed further at another meeting. Suggestion box will be placed at the downstairs counter for the public and a separate box for employees will be placed in the City Manager's office. Doug Lewis asked how he could get an item on the council agenda. Specifically on the need to have a board set up to post all meetings and agendas of each meeting. Acting City Manager, Ralph Dowell, said he would look into having something put together to meet this need. Meeting was adjourned at 11:30 a.m. 4aEORGIA��IREZ, Acting Cit Clerk
