HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes 070784 46 46 MINUTES - ATASCADERO CITY COUNCIL Special Meeting July 7, 1984 9: 00 a.m. Atascadero Administration Building The meeting was called to order at 9: 00 a.m. by Mayor Nelson. Present: Councilmen Handshy and Molina, Councilwomen Mackey and Norris, and Mayor Nelson Absent: None It was noted that the meeting had been called for the purpose of reviewing the 1984-85 proposed budget. Councilman Molina stated that basically he had a strong feel that the budget did not reflect the feelings of the council, present or past, that they wanted to put away money and work towards a permanent facility away from City Hall, that this budget assumes that we were going along with the second and third phase ,of renovation. That the council was not informed that the City now has approximately $600, 000 more than three months ago when they were going through the CIP. Mr. Warden presented an overview of the FY 1984-85 budget. Mayor Nelson reviewed and discussed each departmental budget. The need for a full time switchboard operator was discussed. The Friends of the Library asked for a commitment of $45,000-$50,000 for matching funds for the new libary. MOTION: By Councilwoman Mackey., seconded by Councilwoman Norris to earmark $10, 000-$15,000 for when they are ,ready to build the new library. Passed 4 :1, Councilman Molina voting no. Council approved the following contributions: Chamber of Commerce $16,000; Family Services $500; Hot Line $300; Senior Citizens*$4 ,800; Hospice $300; Action for Animals $7, 000; Basketball Tournament $100; AAUW $600 to be earmarked for scholarships only (opposed by Molina) ; EOC (withdrew their request and asked that it beaddedto the Senior Citizens*) and EMT2 Train- ing $1,760. MOTION: By Councilman Molina, seconded by Councilwoman Norris to pay Council members the maximum (;$150 per month until January 1, 1985, then $300 per month) and if an individual didn't want to accept this amount, or any portion of it, could donate the money back to the city. Passed unanimously. Council agreed to continue the Budget discussions on Saturday, July 14 , 1984 in room 304 at 9: 00 a.m. The meeting adjourned at 2:20 p.m. 4RGTA� RAREZ, Acting Ci Clerk
