RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF ATASCADERO , CALIFORNIA
AUTHORIZING THE INTERIM CITY MANAGER TO ACCEPT
THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE COPS UNIVERSAL HIRING GRANT
WHEREAS, the United States Department of Justice has established the Police Hiring
Supplement Program to assist local law enforcement agencies in placing more police officers on
our streets; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Justice has awarded grant funding for additional police
officers; and
WHEREAS, City funding inadequacies limit our ability to appoint additional police
officers; and
WHEREAS,the Department of Justice has granted a waiver of matching funds for three
police officers;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Manager is hereby authorized
to accept the COPS Universal Hiring Grant and appoint three police officers to these funded
positions.
On motion by Councilperson Luna and seconded by Councilperson Carden , the
foregoing Resolution is hereby adopted in its entirety on the following roll call vote:
AYES: Councilmembers Carden, Clay, Lerno, Luna and Mayor Johnson
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
