RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
ATASCADERO, CALIFORNIA, APPOINTING ONE CITIZEN
TO SERVE AS THE CITY CLERK
WHEREAS, The voters of the City of Atascadero duly elect a City Clerk every four
years; and
WHEREAS, Lee Price was re-elected to a four-year term in June of 1994; and
WHEREAS, The elected City Clerk has vacated the office by her resignation effective
October 26, 1996; and
WHEREAS, Government Code§36512 requires that the City Council shall, within 30
days from the commencement of the vacancy, either fill the vacancy by appointment or call a
special election to fill the vacancy; and
WHEREAS, Following direction given by the City Council, the Deputy City Clerk
conducted a recruitment and solicited applications from members of the public interested in
serving as the City Clerk; and
WHEREAS, The City Council did, on November 20, 1996, conduct interviews for
appointment of a City Clerk and then did deliberate on their options to fill the vacancy;
NOW,THEREFORE, The City Council of the City of Atascadero does hereby resolve to
appoint the following citizen to serve the unexpired term of the City Clerk, said term to expire in
November of 1998:

On motion by Council Member Luna, seconded by Mayor Highland, the foregoing
resolution is hereby adopted in its entirety on the following roll call vote:
AYES: Council Members Bewley, Carden, Johnson, Luna and Mayor
Highland
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
ADOPTED: November 20, 1996
