To: Atascadero City Council
Due to immediate mechanical failures, the Atascadero Mutual Water
Company has temporarily lost 3 . 3 million gallons of daily water
production. We are already acting to remedy this problem.
We believe there is currently pumping capacity to address the
firefighting needs which may arise. If the situation does not
immediately improve, we will face an emergency situation.
We have directed the attached letter be immediately distributed
to our customers.
We ask the City Council' s assistance in helping address this
situation.

Dear Customer:
The Atascadero Mutual Water Company is requesting that
all outside watering be discontinued immediately due to
mechanical difficulties with four of our wells. This is
directly related to declining water levels. Keeping up with
current demand has put a major strain on the system. Due to
the immediate mechanical failures, 3 . 3 million gallons per
day of production has been lost. .
Our records indicate that 90% of water usage is for
outside watering, and other than household use. Therefore,
we are requesting that outside watering be eliminated until
further notice. NO EXCEPTIONS WILL BE GRANTED because we
want to keep you in water for household use.
