PROCLAMATION
ARBOR DAYS
MARCH 30',' 1987
WHEREAS, most states set aside one day as ARBOR DAY
to encourage the planting and appreciation of trees; and
WHEREAS, Atascadero has a wealth of stately oaks and
sycamores, which , are falling victim to old age and progress; and
WHEREAS, most of. our citizens appreciate the value and
beauty of trees as a priceZess asset to our environment; and
WHEREAS, our current population must constantly plant
trees to ensure future trees for those coming after us.
THEREFORE, I, Marjorie Mackey, Mayor of the City of
Atascadero, declare March 30, 1987 at ARBOR DAY in our City,
and March 24-31 as "TREE APPRECIATION WEEK'S and .encourage all
local residents to plant trees on their own property or join
in a roup effort to plant trees on public property.
