group to consider the cost, quality, success and failure of systems with which the

provides quality planning and "value engineering" during design, rather than after
design. Practical solutions to problems have always been a strength for Thoma

Establishing the Kern County Superintendent of Schools Center in a vacant,
seven-story, 100,000 s.f. commercial office building in the central core of
Bakersfield met the client's goals of functional consolidation, technological
advancement, and urban renewal. BFGC participated in the early assessment,

chase/sale options regarding this adaptive re-use facility. With over 200 workers
to be housed, Space Planning and Interior Design were key elements to consoli-
date the organizational components of this agency within one facility. The BFGC
design team evaluated the existing building, worked with the client to develop a
strong program, and applied sound planning and creative design to attain an effi-
cient and exciting work environment. Services provided were comprehensive in
nature, extending to furniture selection, graphic design, relocation planning and
"move" management, and even judging an art competition of all county wide
schools to provide the art within the facility.
