COMMISSION
MINUTES
Thursday, December 18, 2008
SPECIAL HOLIDAY MEETING: 6:00 P.M.
Vice Chairperson Butz called the meeting to order at 6:12 p.m. and led the Pledge of
Allegiance.
ROLL CALL:
Present: Commissioners Chacon, Hatch, Marks, Vice -Chairperson
Butz and Chairperson Sechrist.
Absent: Commissioner Dunn (excused)
Commissioner Istenes (excused)
Staff Present: Community Services Director Brady Cherry, Assistant to the
City Manager / City Clerk Marcia McClure Torgerson, Zoo
Director Alan Baker, Recreation Supervisor Paula Anton,
Recreation Coordinator — Pavilion Audrey Banks and
Administrative Assistant Shannon Sims.
Special Guests Present: Susan Greenaway, Tom Zirk, Council Member Fonzi and
Council Member Kelley.
OATH OF OFFICE:
1. Administration of Oath of Office - Newly appointed Commissioners Susan
Greenaway, Tom Zirk and Youth Representative Mathew O'Connell will be
sworn in by City Clerk, Marcia McClure Torgerson.

Community Services Director Brady Cherry announced that Youth Representative
Mathew O'Connell would not be in attendance and will be sworn in at the January 2009
meeting instead.
City Clerk Marcia McClure Torgerson administered the Oath of Office to newly
appointed Commissioners Susan Greenaway and Tom Zirk and Commissioner Ann
Hatch.
COMMUNITY FORUM:
None.
APPROVAL OF AGENDA:
No action was taken.
COMMISSION ANNOUNCEMENTS AND REPORTS:
Vice Chairperson Butz commented on the Coates for Kids event in which she
participated.
Commissioner Hatch thanked and complimented Vice Chairperson Butz for all of her
efforts with Coates for Kids.
Marcia McClure Torgerson commented on how impressed she was with the
organization at the Coates for Kids event.
Council Member Kelley announced that he is looking forward to working with the Parks
and Recreation Commission and encouraged everyone to feel free to contact him.
Introductions of all in attendance were made.
1. Special Presentation by the Community Services Department —
Year in Review
Community Services Director Brady Cherry showed a power point presentation to the
Commission regarding the Department's 2008 events, programs, accomplishments and
answered questions of the Commission.
No Action Was Taken.

B. ADJOURNMENT:
Vice Chairperson Butz adjourned the meeting at 8:35 p.m. to the next regularly
scheduled meeting of the Parks and Recreation Commission on January 15, 2009.
