RESOLUTION NO. 48-84
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ATASCADERO
COMMENDING CHARLES ("SKIP") M. JOANNES FOR HIS SERVICE
THE CITY COUNCIL
Atascadero, California
WHEREAS, Charles M. Joannes has served the City of Atascadero as its first
Recreation Director since his employment on March 30, 1981 through August 31, 1984,
and has served admirably in that position for that time and will be leaving the
City to pursue his ministry in the Country of Australia; and
WHEREAS, during this time period, many important achievements have been made
in the area of parks and recreation including:
- the establishment of the City's Recreation Department, including program-
ming, staffing, and facilities development
- acceptance of the Roberti-Z'berg Urban Grant application, written by Charles
Joannes, resulting in the initial development of South Atascadero Park,
along with the development of the Park Master Plan
- acceptance of the 1980 Bond Act Grant application, written by Charles
Joannes, resulting in the renovation of Alvord Field, viz. , installation
of fencing, lighting, and bleachers
WHEREAS, Charles Joannes has diligently worked with the Atascadero Parks and
Recreation Advisory Board in ascertaining and fulfilling the recreation needs of
all segments of Atascadero's citizenry;
WHEREAS, Charles Joannes' knowledge, ability, and concern will be sorely
missed by the City Council;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Atascadero City Council does
hereby publicly commend and extend a unanimous vote of appreciation to Mr. Charles
M. Joannes for his service as Recreation Director; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City of Atascadero City Council, on behalf of
the Atascadero Parks and Recreation Advisory Board, City Staff and the community,
wishes Charles M. Joannes happiness and success in his chosen vocation.

a regular meeting held thereof on the 10th day of September, 1984, by the
following roll call vote:
AYES: Councilman Molina & Handshey, Councilwoman Norris and Mackey
and Mayor Nelson.
