A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
ATASCADERO, CALIFORNIA,
ADOPTING THE GRAFFITI ABATEMENT PROGRAM
WHEREAS, the City of Atascadero has a responsibility to its residents and business
owners to promote conditions that are beneficial to the health, safety, welfare and prosperity of
the entire community; and,
WHEREAS, Graffiti is detrimental to the health, safety and welfare of the community in
that it leads to urban blight, encourages gang activity; is detrimental to property values, business
opportunities and the enjoyment of life; is inconsistent with community maintenance goals and
aesthetic standards; and results in additional graffiti on other properties which become the target
of graffiti unless it is quickly removed from adjacent public and private property; and,
WHEREAS, graffiti results in visual pollution and is a public nuisance. Graffiti must be
abated as quickly as possible to avoid detrimental impacts on the city, and to prevent the further
spread of graffiti.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Atascadero as
follows:
1. The Graffiti Abatement Program is adopted as presented.
2. This Resolution will take effect upon adoption.

On motion by Council Member Beraud and seconded by Council Member Brennler, the
foregoing Resolution is hereby adopted in its entirety on the following roll call vote:
AYES: Council Members Beraud,Brennler, Clay, O'Malley and Mayor Luna
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
