ACTION MINUTES

CALL TO ORDER — 3:30 p.m.
Chairperson Fonzi called the meeting to order at 3:30 p.m.

Staff Present: Associate Planner Callie Taylor
Others Present: Sheryl Flores, Peoples' Self Help Housing
APPROVAL OF AGENDA
MOTION: By Committee Member Kelley and seconded by Committee
Member DeCarli to approve the Agenda.
Motion passed 3:0 by a roll -call vote. (Cooper, Ward Absent)

CONSENT CALENDAR
(All items on the consent calendar are considered to be routine and non -controversial by City Staff and will
be approved by one motion if no member of the Committee or public wishes to comment or ask questions.)
The Committee agreed to continue approval of the minutes of Sept. 8 and Sept. 15, 2011, to the
next meeting scheduled for October 13, 2011.
DEVELOPMENT PROJECT REVIEW
1. OAK GROVE II AMENDMENT
DRC review of applicant's request to remove upgraded architectural features on the
side elevation of Lot 1, facing El Camino Real.
PUBLIC COMMENT
Sheryl Flores with Peoples' Self Help Housing was present for the meeting and stated that she
would like to remove the trim that is behind the fence. The extra trim is $1400 (rock plus
construction) for a total of $5,000. Limited visibility from El Camino Real and lots of
vegetation.
Bob Kelley asked about trim on other units.
Susan DeCarli asked: Was Peoples' Self Help Housing aware of the requirement and Planning
Commission process extended fence creates barrier to El Camino Real compromise? Suggested
possibility of smaller gable without columns.
Sheryl Flores stated fence location not clear on plans.
Bob Kelley stated the project must look good and not have a low income appearance; needs to
maintain street appeal.
Chairperson Fonzi closed the Public Comment period.
MOTION: By Committee Member Kelley and seconded by Committee
Member DeCarli to approve elevations and fencing as
recommended by staff in Exhibit 5.
Motion passed 3:0 by a roll -call vote. (Cooper, Ward Absent)

COMMITTEE MEMBER COMMENTS AND REPORTS
The committee would like notice the Friday before the next DRC meeting instead of on the
Monday prior.
Front yard fence height code will be coming before DRC for discussion.

The next regular meeting of the Design Review Committee is scheduled for October 13, 2011.
