HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes 082511 Approved September 13, 2011 O% PECIAL MEETING COUNCILCITY OF ATASCADEROCITY Thursday, August 25, 2011 Immediately following the conclusion of the Community Redevelopment Agency Special Meeting which starts at 6:00 p.m. City of Atascadero Council Chambers 6907 El Camino Real, A.tascadero, California DRAFT AtC"TION [ Mayor O'Malley called the meeting to order at 6:23 p.m. ROLL CALL: Present: Council Members Clay, Fonzi, Sturtevant, Mayor Pro Tem Kelley and Mayor O'Malley Absent: None Others Present: City Clerk /Assistant to City Manager Marcia McClure Torgerson Staff Present: Assistant City Manager Jim Lewis, Administrative Services Director Rachelle Rickard, Public Works Director Russ Thompson, Deputy Administrative Services Director Jeri Rangel, and City Attorney Brian Pierik, City Council Minutes August 25,2011. Page 1 of 2 Approved September 13, 2011 PUBLIC COMMENT: None DISCUSSION: 1. Discussion of Continuation of Redevelopment Agency Projects by the City Fiscal Impact- There is no impact as a result of this recommendation but should the City move forward supporting redevelopment projects, projects would move forward but funds could be at risk. Recommendation: Council discuss and provide direction to staff on whether or not the City will continue certain redevelopment projects and activities on behalf of the Redevelopment Agency during the period the Supreme Court of California is reviewing legal challenges to ABx1 26 and 27. [City Manager] Assistant City Manager Jim Lewis gave the staff report and answered questions from the Council. PUBLIC COMMENT: None MOTION: By Mayor Pro Tern Kelley and seconded by Council Member Fonzi to direct staff to come back to the Council with a list of upcoming redevelopment projects and activities for the Council to review and decide if the City will continue any of the redevelopment projects and activities during the period the Supreme Court of California is reviewing legal challenges to ABx1 26 and 27. Staff is also directed to return with a list of options for how the City could fund these projects. Motion passed 5:0 by a roll-call vote.
