We’re being squeezed too tightly from everywhere. Those on limited income are really affected most and it’s just not fair. We understand the need to increase occasionally but this isn’t right the way it’s being proposed. Take it back to the drawing board and figure out something better for all. Thank you for your consideration. W. Russell Sent from Yahoo Mail for iPhone ATTENTION: This email originated from outside the City's network. The vast majority of our commercial leases are NNN, meaning tenants are responsible for property taxes, utilities, and other operating expenses. Over the past couple years, these businesses have faced mounting challenges, particularly lately from prolonged downtown construction, which has significantly disrupted foot traffic and sales. Despite our best efforts to support our tenants, the rising costs of property taxes and insurance have pushed many to the brink, making it increasingly difficult for them to break even. I respectfully urge the Council to pause any further increases to the sewer property tax and instead initiate a comprehensive, transparent, and inclusive review of the current rate structure. This review should:  Actively involve business owners and stakeholders,  Incorporate real usage data where available, and  Ensure the financial responsibility of maintaining our city’s infrastructure is distributed equitably among all users. Additionally, though it may fall outside the scope of this discussion, I strongly encourage the Council to explore ways to financially support the businesses along El Camino and surrounding streets that have been most affected by ongoing construction. Thank you for your time, and for your continued service to our community. Sydney Zappas ATTENTION: This email originated from outside the City's network.
