My husband Eric Olson & I are emailing in support of the Capricorn Property Group and the Patel family vision and
commitment to the restoration & market repositioning of the historical Carlton Hotel. Having spent a career of 30+
years in the luxury resort business leading projects in such resort towns as Ojai, Carmel Valley, Pebble Beach, Morro Bay,
Paso Robles & San Luis Obispo I can speak from experience that such projects are both a heavy task and a labor of love if
they are to be accomplished successfully.
It is not to be taken lightly when an honorable investor, accomplished in his trade, shares both his experience & passion
to revive what our community values as a chronicled anchor to Atascadero and our Down Town. The Patel family carries
a personal interest and dedication to our community which is not always the case in quickly developing hot spots.
I have had the opportunity to review the proposed plans to which much thought has been given to the preservation of
this iconic property, the ebbs & flow of the property, the creation of unique communal spaces and elevation of the guest
experience overall.
A hotel focused on a commitment to providing a new level of adventure and service to the weary traveler within a
unique community encouraged through a robust marketing platform only attracts the interest and visits of the tourist
which in turn financially feed our city through stronger TOT and flow through support of local businesses like our own.
We can't see the approval of the project to be anything but a win win for the Carlton as well as the City and Citizens of
Atascadero. In short, the Carlton has our full support.
