RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL IN SUPPORT OF
A MULTI-MODAL FACILITY FOR PASO ROBLES.
Whereas, the San Luis Obispo Council of Governments conducted
a Rail Improvement Feasibility Study which identified the City of
Paso Robles as the preferred location for a new AMTRACK station;
and
Whereas, the Feasibility Study demonstrated the benefit of a
multi-modal transportation facility which would serve as a transfer
station for local and regional bus service, Dial-A-Ride facilities,
and park and ride.
Whereas, the City Council of the City of Paso Robles has
expressed its wishes for an AMTRACK stop and multi-modal
transportation facility within the City; and
Whereas, the City of Paso Robles has applied for a grant to
develop a feasibility study and preliminary engineering study for
the multi-modal facility; and
Whereas, the citizens of the City of Atascadero would benefit
from the multi-modal facility both as convenient access to public
rail transportation and a central transfer location for our
regional bus transportation system; and
Whereas, Council adopted Resolution No. 40-92 supporting SB
1691 to include the San Luis Obispo County-to-Santa Barbara and San
Luis Obispo County-to-San Jose rail corridors among the intercity
rail corridors eligible for funding from the proceeds of bonds
issued under the proposed bond acts.
Whereas, the Honorable Mayor Iversen, Mayor of the City of
Paso Robles has personally requested support for such a facility
from the Atascadero City Council;
Therefore, let it be resolved, that the Atascadero City
Council supports the concept of a multi-modal transportation
facility within the City of Paso Robles and further supports the
appropriation of a grant of approximately $50,000 to assist the
project.
On motion by Councilmember Luna and seconded by Councilmember
Borgeson, the foregoing Resolution is hereby adopted in its
entirety on the following roll call vote:
