RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
ATASCADERO CREATING A NO PARKING ZONE,
MODIFYING THE LEFT TURN LANE, AND
AUTHORIZING CAUTIONARY PAINTING
AT THE NEW POLICE STATION
WHEREAS, Section 4-2 .407 et sequence of the Atascadero
Municipal Code allows the City Traffic Engineer to remove,
relocate or discontinue any traffic control device; and
WHEREAS, Section 4-2 . 1101 et sequence of the
Atascadero Municipal Code allows the City Traffic Engineer
to designate No Parking zarea, and to place and maintain
appropriate signs or markings indicating the same; and
WHEREAS, Section 4-2 .401 et sequence of the
Atascadero Municipal Code allows the City Traffic Engineer
to place and maintain official traffic-control devices; and
WHEREAS, The Traffic Committee has studied the traffic
situation at this location at the request of the Atascadero
Police Department and has determined that modifications are
needed. and
WHEREAS, The Traffic Committee has determined that
eliminating parking on Rosario Avenue from El Camino Real
to the entrance to the Police Station would improve traffic
safety; and
WHEREAS, The Traffic Committee has ,determined that
establishing No Parking areas on El Camino Real adjacent to
the driveway would increase sight distance; and
WHEREAS, The Traffic Committee has determined that
painting the word "CAUTION on the sidewalk at each side of
the E1 Camino Real driveway would provide notice to
pedestrians of the possibility of on-coming traffic ; and
WHEREAS, The Traffic Committee has determined that
replacing the double-double yellow striping on the left
turn lane on El Camino Real with double yellow striping
would permit legal left turn movement from the Police
Department Driveway onto El Camino Real .
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of
Atascadero directs the City Traffic Engineer to place and
maintain appropriate signs or markings as indicated above
and on Exhibit A attached hereto ,
On Motion by Councilman Nimmo and seconded
by Councilman Dexter ,the foregoing resolution is
hereby adopted in its entirety on the following roll call
vote
AYES : Councilmembers Shiers, Borgeson, Dexter, Nimmo and Mayor Lilley
NOES : None
ABSENT : None
